What is personal training and why do i need it?

Interested clients have to fill out a PAR-Q+ or ePARmed-X exercise participation form along with filling out a legal waiver form. Depending on your current state of health you may need a doctor to sign off on participating in personal training.

How do I get started with personal training at your company?

Once we are cleared for you to partake in exercise, we will conduct a comprehensive battery of tests. We will start with a passive postural assessment and dynamic postural assessment. After this, we will conduct measurements of body fat percentage, blood pressure, and waist measurements. Following this we will complete tests for muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular. All of these tests will be completed so that we can determine how to best achieve the clients goals.

Are your personal trainers certified and experienced?

All of our personal trainers are CanFitPro certified and are constantly adding to their fitness education.

What can I expect during my initial consultation and assessment?

You can expect the following for the initial consultation and assessment: • Go over what we are going to test for during the initial consultation • Discuss your goals and aspirations • Conduct a passive postural assessment • Conduct a dynamic postural assessment • Take your physical measurements (weight, resting heart rate, waist girth, body fat measurements, body fat percentage) • Cardiovascular testing (Rockport walking test) • Strength tests • Muscular endurance tests • Flexibility tests • Abdominal curl-up tests • Going over your results, answering any client questions • Client chooses their training package before they start their first official session

How do you customize workouts to suit my individual needs and goals?

We customize the workouts for our clients based on the following data: • What are the clients goals? • What is the most effective way to get there? • What is the clients current state of fitness? • What is the clients exercise history? • Chronic afflictions? • Arthritis? • Injury history? • Medication? • Diseases? • All of these factors are taken into consideration in order to come up with a customized workout plan.

What types of fitness and training options do you offer?

We offer one-on-one and partner training options. You can choose to do the one-on-one sessions in the following locations: at a local park, in your own home, at a gym (if you are a member), or virtually. For partner training we can train at the same locations except at a gym. We are in the midst of getting our group training qualifications and will offer that at a later time.

Can I train with a friend or family member in a group session?

Yes, however, if they didn’t sign up with you after you have already paid the fees for your training package, we will require them to pay $45 up front.

How often should I attend personal training sessions for optimal results?

Depending on your personal goals, we recommend training sessions at least 2-3 times per week.

Do you provide nutrition guidance as part of your training programs?

Any effective training regimen must be accompanied by a good nutrition program. Once you have stated what your goals are to us, then we will craft a nutrition plan for you to follow and which will be given to you on the first day of your training.

What if I have specific health concerns or limitations?

It depends. with certain health conditions you may have to get clearance from your doctor to participate in physical activity. Issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic diseases require that you get clearance from your personal doctor. As personal trainers, we must take into consideration any physical limitations you may have and heed the advice and warnings from other medical professionals.

How do you track progress and measure my fitness improvements?

During each training session, our trainers will make careful notes about everything from your flexibility, reps per exercise, weight lifted for each exercise, time/distance/level/resistance for cardio, and any notes about how each exercise was executed. From session to session we will gradually increase the difficulty of the workouts so it is a slow but gradual progression over the course of weeks and months. At the end of every 4 weeks we will take your body measurements, resting heart rate, posture, strength measurements, VO2 capacity, and flexibility measurements.

Are there any age restrictions for your personal training progressions?

We can train anyone from the ages of 10 and up. Children and teens will obviously need the approval of their parents.

What safety measures do you have in place during training sessions?

In order to ensure the safety of our clients: • The client will always be closely monitored by the personal trainer so that they don’t hurt themselves. • We will always teach our clients the appropriate cues to execute each exercise properly. • We will always warm up our clients before each training session and specific warm-ups for each exercise. • After each set we will always talk to our clients to see where they feel it, and if they feel the exercise in the wrong areas we will go through it with them thoroughly again.

Do you offer online or virtual training options?

Yes we do offer online or virtual training options, however, we always recommend in-person training sessions over virtual.

Can I use personal training sessions as a compliment to my current fitness routine?

Of course! We will work with you to create a workout plan that you can stick to while doing the sessions on your own.

How do you keep clients motivated and accountable throughout their journey?

We will follow 7 steps to do exactly this: • We set small achievable goals for our clients. • We incorporate variety into our clients’ workouts. • We use a lot of positive reinforcement. • We foster a very supportive environment. • We offer lots of encouragement. • We hold our clients accountable. • We CELEBRATE our clients SUCCESSES!

Are there any additional resources or supports available outside of training sessions?

At J-4ce Personal Training, we firmly believe in giving our clients great nutritional advice. Nutrition plans to follow outside of workouts come standard with our training packages. In case we run into things that are outside of our expertise we will partner with other professionals in the areas of physical therapy, chiropractic, and dietetics around Prince Albert.

What are your cancellation and rescheduling policies for sessions?

Cancellation Policy for J-4ce Personal Training is the following: If you purchase one session for $50 and you do not give 24 hours notice, then you will owe J-4ce Personal Training the full $50. • If you buy a package of 10 or 20 sessions you will be able to cancel and re-schedule 2 sessions in your package. • The initial consultation and assessment is free. For refunds, you will be eligible for a 50% refund after the first paid for training session if you have purchased a package of either 10 or 20 sessions.

How do billing and payment work for personal training services?

Billing and payment will be completed after your first free sessions when you will pick your training package. Your trainer will get you to send an e-transfer to the following email (j4cetraining@gmail.com). We will be adding a payment service on our website sometime in 2024. Cheques and cash are also accepted. Upon receipt of payment, we will give you a receipt detailing your training package, the amount paid, and our trainers’ signature on it.

Do you offer any discounts or promotions for long-term commitments?

We offer a discount to any clients that sign up for a membership with the Saskatchewan Seniors Fitness Association. The discount is 15% off any 10 or 20 training session package.
